Christmas Caroling....

On December 15, 2002, Club 6:12, and a few brothers, sisters, and parents, went caroling for about two hours at the homes of young families and others from our church. There was a caravan of nine cars and vans each driving to the same destination. I am sure we were quite a sight with about 50 to 55 teenagers, parents, and kids all gathered at the front of a house singing together one of the many Christmas Carols that were chosen for that night. The bewilderment and joy on the faces of the children and their parents as they opened the doors of their homes was unforgettable. When we finished singing carols, we would leave them with our last song, We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Then we quickly piled into the cars and vans to move to the next home on our list.

We visited ten homes and one apartment in all. While we were at the apartment of Annabell Barnes we all packed together into the hallway and staircase, but she was not at home, so we just sang to whoever could hear. At the home of Bob and Ann Heinze, the last home we visited, we were very graciously invited in by them to join them, along with their small group, for some wonderful dessert.

At the end of the caroling parade we returned to the church for some chili. Merrie Leigh had decorated the youth room and put together a going away party for two of our Club 6:12 members, Kaelen and William Z. They will be moving fairly soon.

In all we had a wonderful time of fellowship together throughout the night of singing, eating, and wishing Kaelen and William well as they prepare to move to St. Louis, MO.
