PYA 2003 - Monday, June 16th

Monday started off with the usual -- breakfast! After breakfast we had a praise & worship time before the mornings seminars. The first speaker, Rob Fossett, spoke about evangelism. Rob stressed that evangelism's key is love...first loving God, second important loving other Christians and then we can love non-believers. The second speaker, Dean Conkel, spoke on leadership. Dean spoke to students about being leaders among their peers...stressing that the most important thing is to have an intimate, non-negotiable walk with Christ...which will lead to having power and peace. As the pictures indicate, both students & staff were very attentive during the speakers presentations!

Morning seminars were followed immediately by lunch. After lunch (as will be the case Tue,Wed & Fri), the students split up among four activities by their castes. The activities were High Ropes, Hiking, Street Evangelism and Mercy Ministry. I attended each one at least once this week.

Today, I went with the group going to the High Ropes. We took a short drive to a park, in which a company has six different events setup. When we arrived, we were given basic instructions after which we had to make a small hike up the hill to the location of these events. Starting from the bottom of the hill and working up, the events were the ladder climb, V-Swing, High Bar Jump, two wire walking events, and a log walking. All these events took place well off ground level! Above are 12 pictures and one video link (I had to cut it off somewhere, SO many good pictures!)

As the teams arrived from their different locations, the students were given free time until dinner. After dinner, the students were led in a game of human checkers. Following the activity was a time of worship and a message from Anthoney Bradley. Anthoney spoke on how to the students can protect themselves from the devil's attack. Five ways in which the devil attacks were touched on: "The devil is trying to kill me"; "Devil wants to pervert everything that is good"; "Don't let devil take your brain"; "Devil wants to lead you astray"; "Devil wants to become your father -- the father of lies"

The evening was wrapped up with a little free time and then dorm groups... and LIGHTS OUT!

Go to Sunday (back)
