PYA 2003 - Tuesday, June 17th

Tuesday morning started out just as every other morning.... breakfast followed by a brief skit (see above!) and praise and worship. This morning's seminars included three speakers. The first was Rob Fossett, who continued with his message on evangelism. Rob based the following nine points primarily from John 4:1-42 and Acts 17:22-32 text: 1) Repsect non-believers; 2) Observation - must observe people you try to reach; 3) Listen intently AND pay attention; 4) Find points of contact / something in common; 5) Take their beliefs seriously; 6) Ask good questions; 7) Be vulnerable, BUT thick skinned; 8) be willing to use their language (I.E. don't use fancy terms if they won't understand the terms!); 9) Pray

The second speaker was Andrea Conrad who spoke about ministry opertunities. The driving point Andrew made was that failing to pray removes you from ministry opertunities. The third speaker was Dean Conkel, who continued his message on leadership. Dean's talk was about Godly time management and guarding your time -- and how if that is accomplished, and time with God is a priority in your daily time, you will be much more successful than with a loose schedule.

The students then went to lunch and after lunch split into groups to go to the street evangelism, mercy ministry and hiking. I went along with the street evangelism group.

This group of students were given a questionaire. The students were to ask people if they would mind helping with a survey which would only take about five minutes. If the person was willing, the student(s) would read the questionaire and write down the answers. In a lot of cases, based on the answers already obtained, the student(s) could then ask further questions and expand the conversation beyond what is on the questionaire (based on the person's answers).

As the teams returned, the students were given free time until dinner. After dinner, the skit continued and was followed by a time of praise, worship, and prayer. The evening message was presented by Anthoney Bradley. Anthony spoke on the 2nd and 10th commandments, with the theme being "Idol worship + Coveting = Misery". After the prayer time, the students had approx. 1 hour of free time before dorm groups (small groups) and then LIGHTS OUT!

Go to Monday (back)
